Acrylic on canvas, 30 x 40 inches
The bold lines resulted from outlining words and phrases from my planners. They document memories dating back to 2008. Words are faintly painted in English and Spanish, a language that I can no longer speak. In addition to memory loss, brain surgery impacted my ability to process secondary languages. Curved marks mimic the scar on my left temporal lobe. Others are rigid, a timeline with an abrupt ending. Like misfiring neurons, the gray lines do not connect. They scatter in bursts of wild color.
