Battery-Powered Brain is a diary that exists between mediums. The video above is a painting that I created, photographed, projected, manipulated with mylar and re-photographed. The process is a transaction between physical and the digital. It represents the cyclical exchange between my brain and a responsive neurostimulator device that rests in my head.
The imagery in the initial painting stems from entries in a decade of personal planners. I lost some of those memories due to brain tissue damage. Similar to an agenda planner, the device functions as an active record keeper. It monitors, alters and archives brain waves to prevent neurological malfunctions and promote memory function. It’s a computer that uses its memory to restore mine.
